EATZ: Fried Pork Intestines, Tiong Bahru Porridge

Tiong Bahru Porridge
531A Upper Cross Street
Hong Lim Complex Food Centre #02-29
Opening Hours: 9a.m. - 9p.m. (Closed on alternate Tuesdays)
After visiting 渔汤专卖 at People's Park Food Centre for the congee, I felt that I need to return to Tiong Bahru Porridge at Hong Lim Food Centre. Tiong Bahru Porridge still serves a better congee and ikan parang raw fish (鱼生).

Fried Pork Intestines Porridge
S$5
Thick and hot porridge topped with freshly fried pork intestines, fried rice vermicelli and spring onions. The fried pork intestines are very fragrant without the reek of pork that some may dislike. They are crispy on the outside and slightly chewy.
I had returned specifically to try this!

Ikan Parang Raw Fish (鱼生)
S$3
Pinkish strips of ikan parang sashimi sitting on a bed of shredded lettuce and topped with spring onions. Sliced red chilli and lime are provided for diners to add to taste. How can I not order this delightful side dish?

Verdict
As mentioned before here, the congee is thick and full-bodied. If you think congee is never filling, you are absolutely wrong! This is all the good stuff! The fragrant fried pork intestines has a really nice taste and texture to it that I was tempted to order more as a side! At S$5, I say it is worth it! You can't find such good taste anywhere else but here at Tiong Bahru Porridge! Together with the fresh ikan parang raw fish, this meal is perfect!
