EATZ: Nasi Briyani, Yakader Muslim Food

Before I return to camp for my second week of in-camp training (ICT) and spending more than half the time in the living on the dirt, here is the last foodie post before a week without any updates.

Yakader Muslim Food
Specialist Dum Briyani
Block 665 Buffalo Road #01-324 Tekka Centre
The only stall that competes with the "Best Briyani in Singapore" for the crowd that form long queues before their stalls. Luckily, Yakader Muslim Food is located at the aisle behind "Allauddin's Briyani", and hence the competition is not a head on one, but they sure blew their neighbouring competitors away! These neighbouring competitors are usually selling more than just briyani, hence explaining their existance after all these years. Yakader Muslim Food claims to be the 'Specialist in Dum Briyani', which is nasi briyani cooked with the meat in the rice. However, the competition is still in the regular nasi briyani.

Nasi Briyani with Chicken
S$4

The rice grains are tasty with a mild frangrance and include some raisins, fried shallots and cashew nuts along with some spices. The meat of the curry chicken is rather dry and lack the taste of the spices from the curry. The curry gravy is rather spicy and goes well with the briyani rice.

Verdict
Yakader Muslim Food
definitely serves a good briyani as endorsed by various papers and even Makansutra shown on their stall front. The briyani rice though nice but is not as fragrant and tasty as I have expected it to be. I was rather put off by the dry chicken meat which lacked taste of the spices infused into the meat. Luckily, the spicy gravy saved the day. I would anytime go for the briyani at Ah Mei Cafe, which had me going for a second round. I definitely still cast my vote for Allauddin's Briyani as the "Best Briyani in Singapore".
