I have earlier reviewed on the 1/6th FN P90. Today, I am going to talk about the 1/6th STEYR AUG-A1 (mil.StG77) that came with my 1/6th MEDICOM Toys MSFS GEK COBRA.
AUG or 'Armee-Universal-Gewehr' means 'Universal Army Rifle'. This STEYR-AUG A1 standard military version rifle is manufactured by STEYR ARMS Inc. This Austrian family of AUG rifles is easily recognized by it unique form. It is the first to be designed with a 'bullpup' configuration, which was discussed in my post about the FN P90. Since its appearance in 1977, this rifle has been adopted by armed forces as a service rifle in Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Ireland and, for a period of time in Malaysia. Till date, no terror organizations were spotted wielding this weapon. The default configuration of the rifle comes with a 1.5x magnification scope integrated as the carrying handle. The distinctive clear magazine allows the user to gauge the remaining ammunition. Unlike other rifles, the STEYR AUG has different mode for selective firing, such as the MP5 or AR15 which has a dedicated selector mechanism. The AUG controls the selective firing via the 2-step trigger. A 'half-pull' activates semi-automatic firing mode, while 'full-pull' activates fully-automatic firing mode. However, as a safety measure, an 'automatic-lockout' mechanism can be located at the bottom of the butt. The rifle utilizes a gas-operated mechanism and fires a 5.56mm NATO round. A whole arsenal of STEYR-AUG variants spun off from this standard design, from carbines to sniper rifles. Optional M203 grenade launchers can be added.

Left image shows the left-hand grip which is moveable to provide ergonomics to the user.

Two D-rings are available for mounting the rifle sling. Right image also shows the 'automatic-lockout' mechanism which is found on the front of the butt, just behind the magazine.
Clear orange magazine that carries 30 5.56mm rounds. There is a longer magazine that can contain 42 rounds.
