"Lao Zhong Zhong Ngoh Hiang" (老中中五香酥虾饼) is located in "Lao Zhong Zhong Coffeeshop", near Macpherson. "Lao Zhong Zhong Ngoh Hiang" has been popular for their ngoh hiang (五香) and other snacks such as prawn fritters, prawn 'UFO', fish cakes, stuffed sausages. While many ngoh hiang stalls do not clearly state their pricing and have a tendency to overcharge, "Lao Zhong Zhong Ngoh Hiang" keeps everything at S$0.60. I would always order prawn fritters, prawn 'UFO', ngoh hiang, tau kwa (beancurd) and century egg.
Right: Prawn fritter is one of my favourite.
The prawn 'UFO' is different from others by having beancurd embedded inside.

Verdict

"Lao Zhong Zhong Ngoh Hiang" (老中中五香酥虾饼) definitely lives up to their reputation of serving one of the freshest and tastiest ngoh hiang snacks. I particularly love their ngoh hiang (五香) as they had added small chunky bits of water chestnut which added a crunchy texture and a sweet taste to the usual ngoh hiang. Though I will not travel to Macpherson particularly for the ngoh hiang as a proper meal, however, should I visit the coffeeshop for other food, I would ordered some ngoh hiang snacks as sides.
