Tel: 6444 5546
Situated on a small stretch of interesting shophouses is a "Lost and Found" (from Channel 5 TV programme) gem, "Claypot Cuisine". Located beside Siglap Centre, this area in the eastern part of Singapore is where no MRT can take you but convenient by bus or drive. Limited free night parking available.
No detailed dish titles and prices were documented as this was a treat from my bro celebrating dad's birthday.
Happy Birthday, Dad!

Ar-char
This complimentary ar-char is really unique. Apart from the usual pickled vegetables, there is minced hae bi (dried shrimps) and peanut chunks.

Braised sweet pork chop
(not real name)
Tender soft pork meat braised in a sweet and tasty brown sauce and sprinkled with sesame.

Homemade tofu
(not real name)
6 pieces of homemade tofu (silken beancurd) cubes with a strip of nori (seaweed) sitting on top, fried to a brown and drowned in a tasty brown sauce, topped with mushrooms and served with broccolli on the sides.

Wasabi Prawns
(not real name)
Succulent prawns in a flour coating fried to a golden crisp and drizzled with a sweet-spicy special blend of mayonnaise with wasabi.

Stir-fried Kangkong
(not real name)
Simple garlic stir-fried kangkong.

Red Snapper in Teochew Style
(not real name)
This catch was not exactly the best for the meat was rather 'old' probably due to refrigeration. Nevertheless, there was not fishy taste.

Claypot Rice
Only available in two sizes. Small serves four bowls while medium serves six. The waitress will serve and mix the oil and black sauce for the customers, though some will prefer to do it themselves. Huge chunks of chicken meat and thick slices of lup cheong (chinese sausage) are the main ingredients, together with some salted fish which gave the taste. The rice is cooked from raw grains, thus explaining the crunchy burnt bottom layer which is the best part of claypot rice. The rest of the rice is fragrant and soft, however, shys a little in taste.

Vedict
Though rather out of the way, "Claypot Cuisine" does have their crowd from those who drive and those who live in the Siglap, East Coast and possibly Joo Chiat cluster. I really liked the ar char, wasabi prawn, braised sweet pork chop and homemade tofu. The claypot rice is good but there are better ones that beat this hands down. There are a handful of dishes available to choose from but many are just variations of the same dish. The price is slightly above average. I would say the final bill was around S$120-150. Nevertheless, "Claypot Cuisine" serves a hearty meal for any gatherings for friends, colleagues or family.
Worth the try!
