EATZ: Leon Kee Pork Rib Soup

We all know "Alexandra Village Food Centre" (corrected, thanks to ber's note) located opposite Queensway Shopping Centre along Alexandra Road. We also know that it is popular for "Tong Fong Fatt Chicken Rice" and "Crispy Roti Prata". But did you know that "ABC Market: is also popular for its "Bak Kut Teh" (pork rib soup). What is unique about the "Bak Kut Teh" here, compared to the many at Balestier Road, is the black soup. We found two stalls selling the same black "Bak Kut Teh", but which is the better one? Follow the crowd and we found "Leon Kee Pork Rib Soup".

Leon Kee Pork Rib Soup
Alexandra Village Food Centre
"Leon Kee" serves a variety of traditional chinese soups and stews in hotpots and claypot stews such as: liver, kidney and intestine rice vermicelli; pig tail soup; firepot mushroom pig trotters; claypot mushroom chicken; mushroom kailan; pork rib noodles and soup. Upon ordering, the chef will fire up the mini stoves and bring the contents in the claypots to boil, ready to serve within minutes! We tried the "Pork Rib Soup" and the "Firepot Mushroom Pork Trotters".

Firepot Mushroom Pork Trotters
S$4 (S$4/$5)
Soft and juicy pork trotters braised with mushrooms in a stew. The pork trotters are 70% meat, 20% fat and 10% skin. It is definitely 'shiok' chewing on it.

Pork Rib Soup
S$4 (S$4/$5/$6)
The black 'bak kut teh' comes with three huge slabs of juicy pork ribs. Surprisingly, the soup was not pepper spicy as I had expected. The taste is actually slightly 'sweet', which is slightly not my type of 'bak kut teh".

Juices
from Avocado King
What better way to drown it down with Avocado juice as well as, Beet Root juice with Apple and Carrot.

Verdict
I am actually more determined to try the other stall that serves particularly black 'Bak Kut Teh'. Otherwise, I would prefer to go back to the common white pepper 'bak kut teh'. Nevertheless, the "Firepot Mushroom Pork Trotters" is fantastic!

Initially u mentioned ABC, I thought is the ABC Brickworks food centre located quite near to this place along Jalan Bukit Merah. Then I saw the pics and realised u referring to the one opposite queensway and the former SAFRA? The Rong Guang and the avocado drink is famous there also. I prefer the bak kut teh found in the middle of the food center sold by the ah peks. dunno the stall now still there not.

I refer to this that you went as Alexandar Village food center.
