Feline Senses: Tastes

Cats have a rough, prickly tongue. The tongue is covered with tiny 'hooks' barbs called "papillae", that points backwards. When we see cats using their tongues to lick themselves, they are not suggesting that they are narcissists, but they are grooming themselves. In doing so, they tend to swallow hair, hence they can be seen 'puking' out hairballs. Cats also use their tongues to remove feathers or fur from their prey and to lick meat from the bones. Cats are believed to be able to distinguish between four different tastes (sweet, sour, salty and bitter) with special papillae tastes buds at the tip, sides and back of the tongue.
We know that dogs stick their tongues out for perspiration, but what about cats? It is believed that cats stick their tongues out because of either dental pain, swollen tongue from infection or simply showing relaxation and contentment.

How would you ever know how I taste food when even tastes are subjective to every human individuals? :p
