This is the second report on Tong Heng in Chinatown.
It must be really good to deserve a second report.
Friendly service all the time, +1
A vast array of traditional delicacies.
The dessert booth sells Almond Paste, Sesame Paste, Red Bean Paste, Steam Egg Custard, Milk Cereals and also Classic Kaya Toast.
My choices for today were the Egg Tarts and Sesame Paste (again), and Golden Shortcake with Lotus Paste.
Their egg tarts are the best!
The Golden Shortcake with Lotus Paste.
The bite into the shortcake is a smooth and soft one. The crust is not too hard and neither is it too soft. The texture is perfect. It crumbles in your mouth and not all over the table. The taste is just right as well, not being overly sweet. I can relate this snack to one item: mooncake compressed into a compact, guilt-free, non-jelat pastry.
I have decided to put up a scan of their catalog for the benefit of everyone with a sweet tooth for traditional chinese pastries.
