What a day....

The day began with some random photography.
We were at Takashimaya S.C. doing some stuff, when I saw a huge cock!

From Takashimaya, we decide to make our way down Orchard towards Raffles City after lunch. Cathay is going to relive its previous glory.

Apparantly, it is 'Thaipusam' today. Thaipusam is a ceremony honored by the indiam community where devotees carry the kavadi on them. The kavadi is an elaborate metal structure bearing images of religious gods with many spikes and needles that pierce into the flesh of the kavadi carrier. The kavadi is carried by the carrier who wishes to repay to their gods for the wishes they had made, usually praying for the safety of family members. The carrier will have to fast some time before the actually ceremony in order to 'cleanse' their body and as such, when pierced by the kavadi, they will not bleed. The objective of the ceremony is for the devotee to carry the kavadi carrying goat milk from a certain temple to another, for the gods. The family and friends of the carrier will usually be with the carrier to cheer him on during this physical and mental challenging task which by hook-or-crook, the carrier must complete.

After viewing the Thaipusam, I brought my girlfriend to the 'Workshop' and visit the 'Christopher the Tree Wizard'. He is a really great guy and artist with a strong passion for what he is doing. Behind them is a mural drawn my the creator of 'Mambo'.

At the end of the day, it is great to enjoy some 'Chilli Crab' at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. Although not the best I've had, but its good enough to fill my empty stomach.
