Decide to give a review of the Vallejo Model Color.
Vallejo Model Color comes in a 17mL eye-washer dropper bottle at S$4. The price is slightly cheaper than Gunze Sangyo's Aqueous Hobby Color in terms of price per volume. Vallejo acrylic colors are commonly found in modelling shops and used in hand-painting of military kits
This particular one is Fluorescent Green of the acrylic range.
The instructions clearly states that it is water-based and safety standards matching ASTM (American Society of Testing Methods) standards.
The bottle is made to be compact and child-safe, unlike that of Gunze Sangyo's.
STEP 1: Squeeze a drop of paint easily from the bottle. After which, the paint in the nozzle will seal the opening, preventing excessive drying of contents.
STEP 2: Add 2 portions of water or IPA. This time, I've added water to thin it. If IPA is used, the paint will dry faster than using water.
STEP 3: Primer should have been applied as necessary and cured. However, I have not primed for this review and demo. Paint is applied.
STEP 4: Paint the second or third coat as necessary. This is after the first coat has dried.
RESULIT: After 3 thin coats. The result is clear that the brush strokes are hardly visible. On the whole, the price to volume is slightly cheaper and doesn't stink as bad as Gunze Sangyo's Aqueous Hobby Color. The break-proof compact bottle makes it easier to store as well. Both types paints equally well though without nasty brush strokes that lacquer paints give. Hence, if you don't really require 17mL that much, you should get Gunze Sangyo's. However, I will get Vallejo since its easier to buy.
You decide.
I have chosen mine.
